Extra Bitter Tonic

$9.00

8 ounce bottle

Developed initially for our friends over in the UK, we've decided to offer our Extra Bitter Tonic as a stand-alone product.

We've added a richer expression of Quinine for a fuller, drier Gin & Tonic. This premium tonic pairs wonderfully with a classic, juniper forward Gin.

All of the nuanced flavors of our Original Classic Tonic Syrup that you have grown to love, with an added bitterness and none of that terrible aftertaste left behind with commercial tonic waters.

Quinine was once considered a cure for malaria. We aren't doctors, so the only thing we definitively know it will cure is the happy hour conundrum.

Extra Bitter Tonic is amazing!

Really enjoy the extra bitter as a mixer.

Extra bitter tonic is terrific

It makes drinking a gin and tonic special. And when I do it with your orange bitters and an orange zest it’s my go to summer cocktail.

Maybe the real deal, but not for me

The Extra Bitter is definitely quinine, but I actually prefer the sweeter regular syrup. My pre-made (which lives in the fridge) is about 1 syrup to 10 Tanqueray, then mixed with seltzer (and a slice of lime) for a perfect G&T. More like a diluted Martini?

The right choice for G&T

I was never that big a fan of G&T--always a little too sweet, and lacking on the tonic side. My wife likes G&Ts, so I got her a bottle of the original/regular JR tonic. She loved it. I tried it, and it was the best I had ever had, but still seemed to be lacking something. Then, I decided to try the Extra Bitter. It is, to put it succinctly, perfection. The right amount of bitter, the right amount of sweet. I still gravitate toward a Negroni, Martini or Vesper before dinner, but when it gets hot and muggy (as it has been for weeks here), the JR Extra Bitter G&T is the choice. Only two negatives: it goes down so easy, it seems to disappear! And, as others have said, please, a larger bottle.
